A guide to Frogs Rafting in France

An insider’s guide to Frogs Rafting in France

Describe Frogs Rafting to someone who’s never heard of it:

We’re a small, family-owned and run summer outdoor adventure business, specialising in whitewater activities, canyoning and climbing. It is run by myself and Jeremy, a French canyoning, climbing and kayaking guide originally from Normandy.

Together with our fabulous team of French-certified guides, we hope to help you navigate the River Dranse on rafts, hydrospeeds, cano-rafts or airboats. We also want to help you explore canyons around the area, including Nyon, the fabulous canyon just outside of Morzine. Being a small business allows us to be pretty flexible, so do let us know if you have specific questions or requirements.

What activities do Frogs Rafting offer?

White-water rafting, hydrospeeding, cano-rafting/airboating (double and single inflatables), canyoning and climbing.

What can we expect?

Lots of fun! Cheeks that hurt from grinning and tummy muscles that hurt from laughing! Putting yourself in a situation where you’re not totally confident requires not taking yourself too seriously, and people are often a bit nervous before the trip, then really giggly after!

For people who just want to chill out and float down, that’s always a possibility. For daredevils and thrill-seekers, the guides are there to help get your adrenaline pumping — all the while keeping you safe and giving you suggestions about how to challenge yourself and what options you have. It’s down to you to decide what you’re after!

We want everyone to feel that they’ve accomplished something from their visit, whether it’s learning a bit more about the geology, flora and fauna of the area, watching family and friends have fun, learning a knot to help you abseil yourself or how to walk on slippery rocks, daring to jump off rocks or slide down slides. Enjoying the outdoors is a real privilege and it’s often the case that every member of your group takes something different away from their experience.

Any tips for getting the best out of our visit?

If you’re a big group or have a specific day or time in mind, book early! We’re very small with only two boats and eight people at a time canyoning, so we book up pretty quickly! Double-check directions, as our base is a 30-minute drive from Morzine, and there are few things worse than mountain roads when you’re in a rush. Also, double-check what you’re booking: often people book without realising what they’re letting themselves in for (especially canyoning!), so check out our website and this video to get an idea of what to expect.

Where is Frogs Rafting in France and how do we get there?

Our rafting base, along the River Dranse, is a 30-minute drive from Morzine, where we offer whitewater activities (rafting, hydrospeeding, canoeing and air boating). The address is 315 Route des Grandes Alpes.

The canyoning happens at Nyon Canyon, so the meeting point is in the car park at the bottom of the Nyon Chamoissiere Telepherique.

The climbing is at Rocher de la Chaux (Elephant’s Head), Bas Thex, the climbing wall just outside St Jean d’Aulps.

What are the opening hours of Frogs Rafting
