Ski Morzine FAQ

Morzine is a well known and popular ski resort. Taking in the linked area of Les Gets, Morzine boasts 120 kilometres of pistes, meaning that there are slopes to suit all levels. Beginners and intermediate level skiers can make use of the gentler slopes on Super Morzine and Pléney, while advanced skiers will love tackling the tricker runs on Chamossière. It's an excellent choice of resort, with plenty of amenities outside of its ski runs.

Morzine is a very family friendly ski resort, with ski schools, 30 snow parks, loads of easy ski runs and childcare options. Interconnected ski areas mean that families with varying abilities are able to stay near to one another and there are family ski lessons available, too. For the days you don't want to ski, there's night sledging, snowshoe trekking and a huge indoor ice rink to keep everyone happy. Getting to Morzine is a breeze thanks to the number of flights that come from the UK and Europe to Geneva, and the drive to Morzine takes just over an hour. Hunter Chalets are well equipped for families, with some coming complete with their own private cinema — ideal for if you want to enjoy a family movie night.

Morzine is a fantastic choice for couples. The area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and resort, but also offers fantastic restaurants for those romantic meals out. The Pléney télécabine is the main ski lift in Morzine, and can take you up to the Les Gets ski areas too. When you get to the top of the slope, you will find an excellent variety of beginners nursery slopes and run for the more advanced skier. It's also worth knowing about the Nyon cable car, that will get you to the summit of Pointe de Nyon and the Super Morzine gondola, which is located on the opposite side of the Morzine valley from Pléney. This will take you to the Express Zore, leading to Avoriaz and the rest of the Portes du Soleil.

You can ski in Morzine between December and April, though February is the driest and snowiest month.

Although Morzine isn't snowsure, the area does get a good amount of snow in the winter — 11-39cm per week in January, 12-40cm in February, highs of 50cm in March and 9-17cm in April. This snow is boosted with 322 snow guns along 130km of piste. The beauty of staying in Morzine is that you can easily catch the Prodains lift up to Avoriaz, which usually has great snow cover due to its higher altitude.

There are 29 blue runs on the Morzine slopes and 3 green that are ideal for beginners. For those after a more challenging run, Morzine boasts 28 red runs, and 9 black for expert level skiers.

Morzine is famous for its apres! With so many great bars to choose from, it's hard to know where to start. At the base of Le Pleney you'll find Le Tremplin, which boasts a bustling terrace and live music, while beer lovers should seek out the legendary Robinsons Bar for a half of Mutzig (trust us, a half is enough!). Want to stay out and go dancing? L'OPERA is a fantastic nightclub, perfect for late night revellers .

Morzine in an excellent choice for snowboard enthusiasts. Nearby Avoriaz is home to Europe's first Burton Stash and there are 30 snowparks across the whole of the Portes du Soleil ski area.
