Mont Chéry

Often described as a ‘hidden gem’, Mont Chéry offers a little slopeside sanctuary for those looking to take on some tricker runs. With 4 blacks, 4 reds and 1 blue, Mont Chéry is small but perfectly formed (and often surprisingly quiet, even during peak weeks!) With several easy reds and challenging blues, Mont Chéry is suitable for intermediate skiers and confident skiers looking to test themselves. 

To access the area, take the Mont Chéry bubble lift followed by the Grande Ourse Chairlift.

Family ski

Club Piou-Piou, run by the ESF school, offers childcare and a ski school for kids aged three to 14. Daycare is available for those aged three and above, and includes snow games, tobogganing, walking, reading, and arts and crafts.

The Grand Cry and the Mauve slope are good spots for families with younger children, too. The Mauve trail includes a “fauna” zone with life-size animals and explanatory panels and a “fun ski” zone with ski games. This area is accessible via the ski lift at La Croix or the Grand-Cry.
Or, if your kids are a little older and you’re ready to hit the slopes as a family, why not hire an instructor to join you? You’ll get to spend time together while feeling safe in the knowledge that you’ve got an expert alongside you and your loved ones.

Beginners and intermediates

Les Gets is a brilliant spot for beginners. With numerous ski schools to choose from and lots of easy runs on the Chavannes side, you’ll be spoilt for choice if you’re just starting out. 

The Mappy’s area is brilliant for those who are just starting out. Situated close to the arrival point of the Chavannes cable car, it sits mid-mountain, away from the normal ski area. It consists of two magic carpets, a snow cable and a rope tow and is also accessible to pedestrians. 

For those who are feeling a little more confident on the slopes, there’s plenty of options. As we’ve mentioned, Mont Chéry is the place to be if you’re ready to progress your skiing (and if you’re looking for some peace and quiet!) The ‘Chamois’ run is perfect for the experienced intermediate and can be accessed by taking the Mont Chéry gondola followed by the De La Pointe chairlift – from there it’s simple, just follow the line of those same lifts. For intermediates who are looking to give off-piste skiing a whirl (accompanied by a guide, we should stress), try Les Maisons Larges. Starting from the Ranfoilly chairlift, this route enjoys Mont Blanc views and will give you a taste for life off the beaten track!

Advanced skiers and boarders

For those at the top of their game, Les Gets is a great base. There are a number of challenging routes right on your doorstep but you’ve also got easy access to the entire Portes du Soleil region. 

For those looking to really challenge themselves, there are two black runs located in the Chavannes area of Les Gets. The Yeti piste is a black run that is accessible from the La Rosta lift and Myrtilles can be reached via the Grains d’Or chairlift.

Prefer snowboarding to skiing? Les Gets offers plenty for boarders, easier blues and greens to more testing reds, blacks and freeride sections. The Ranfoilly bowl has some wide blues, there’s a kid’s activity area in Chavannes as well as the Les Gets Snowpark (accessible via the Mouille au Roi drag lift) where you’ll find rails, boxes and jumps.

Cross-country skiing in Les Gets

Often considered the oldest form of skiing, cross-country is not only a great workout but an excellent way to explore the Les Gets ski resort. Les Chavannes and Mont Chéry both offer cross-country routes, with options available for all abilities – however, if you’re new to the pursuit then we’d advise you to get some guidance from the experts before heading out. Private and group lessons are available to get you up to speed.
