Why Morzine is the Ultimate Last-Minute August Escape
Morzine in August transforms into a vibrant, sun-drenched playground. It offers the perfect blend of high-end relaxation and outdoor activity, making it an exceptional choice for large families, multigenerational trips, and groups of friends looking for a last-minute escape.
Here is why swapping the beach for the mountains should be on your radar this August.
Travel & access
When booking a last-minute trip, complex logistics are the last thing you want. Morzine is exceptionally accessible:
- Fly and Relax: Geneva is a short flight from most UK airports. From there, it is an easy 1-hour and 10-minute transfer to the chalet door.
- The Ultimate Road Trip: If you prefer to pack the car (and perhaps bring the dog), Morzine is a straightforward drive from the Eurotunnel at Calais. Most of our chalets include private parking, and the village itself is incredibly dog-friendly, with many restaurants welcoming four-legged guests on their terraces.

Exceptional value for larger groups
August is notoriously expensive for traditional luxury hotels. However, the economics shift entirely when you book a large private chalet.
When split across a large family gathering or a group of friends, the cost per person in our expansive properties is often significantly less than booking multiple suites at a five-star hotel. You gain entirely private spaces –from expansive dining decks to cinema rooms –while maintaining boutique hotel standards, including crisp linens, The White Company toiletries, and our dedicated concierge service to handle your itinerary, transfers and any activities you’d like to book.

The Alpine alternative to beach days
You don’t need to sacrifice water for the mountains. Morzine and its neighbouring villages are home to spectacular alpine lakes that rival any coastal beach:
- Lac de Montriond: A sprawling, emerald-green lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs. It is perfect for wild swimming, paddleboarding, or simply relaxing on the grassy banks before lunch at one of the lakeside restaurants.
- Lac des Ecoles (Les Gets): A brilliant spot for families, featuring a designated swimming area, a Wibit inflatable water park, and a water slide.

Activity holidays with a luxury basecamp
Morzine is incredibly safe, walkable, and packed with pop-up events throughout the summer months. It is an activity holiday, but on your terms.
While the Portes du Soleil is famous for its mountain biking – and you will see plenty of riders navigating the trails – you do not have to stay in a hostel to enjoy it. You can spend your mornings hiking, cycling, or exploring the high-altitude trails, and your afternoons retreating to the comfort of a private chalet.

Almost all of our properties feature private outdoor hot tubs to soothe tired legs, but two of our larger chalets offer the ultimate summer luxury: private pools.
- Chalet Mont Des Anges: Sleeping 14 guests, this spectacular property features an enormous south-west facing deck with a heated infinity pool overlooking the mountains, an outdoor kitchen, and a professional bar area.
- The Bungo: Perfect for families, sleeping up to 16. It features a heated outdoor pool, an outdoor kitchen, and a sun-soaked garden equipped with a sunken trampoline, climbing wall, and swing set.
