Luxury skiing holidays at Christmas

Luxury ski holidays at Christmas

A skiing holiday at Christmas is magical! Snow, Christmas lights, parades, vin chaud and gooey fondue all add to the experience. Morzine and Les Gets in France go all-out at Christmas, including a visit from Santa, fireworks and ice-skating in the centre of town. And for adults – the slopes are waiting for skiers and, if you are staying in one of our catered chalets, your chalet hosts and private chef are ready to make the week extra special.

8 reasons to ski at Christmas

1. We’ll cook Christmas dinner

Take a break from the kitchen this year and let your chalet chef cook you a Christmas feast to remember. Our catered chalets include breakfast, afternoon tea, pre-dinner canapes and a four-course dinner tailored to you. As for drinks, you’ll be looked after by your chalet host who will keep the complimentary Champagne, fine wines, spirits and soft drinks flowing throughout your Christmas meal. This service is available in our catered chalets in Morzine.

2. We’ll put the Christmas decorations up

Christmas isn’t complete without the festive decorations. We like to add a little festive magic with Christmas trees (real trees on request), twinkly lights and anything else you’d like. If you have children awaiting the arrival of Santa Claus, let us know and we’ll hang up some stockings. Most of our luxury chalets have a wood-burning stove so you can gather around the fire with your nearest and dearest, toasting the festive season with your favourite drink. Cheers!

3. Ski on Christmas Day

Did you know the ski lifts are open for Morzine and Les Gets on Christmas Day? After a hearty breakfast, you can spend the day on the slopes surrounded by sparkling snow and magical-looking pine trees. Add our 24-hour driver service and we can take you to Prodains ski lift up to Avoriaz resort, which is known to be snow-sure. This means you have the opportunity to ski at three local resorts in one holiday or even get a Portes du Soleil pass and ski 12 resorts spanning the France/Switzerland border.

4. We can get the Christmas shop in

If you’re staying in a self-catered chalet, there’s no need to dash to the supermarket once you arrive. We’ll help you complete your online shop before you get here and then we’ll deliver your shop to your chalet. You can also arrange a drinks package and freshly-baked croissants and bread delivered to your doorstep every morning.

If you prefer not to cook during your stay, we can deliver freshly-prepared two-course meals to your chalet on request. All you need to do is follow our easy reheating instructions and you’re good to go. Just let our concierge know well in advance if you would like to book this service.

5. We can pick you up from the bar or restaurant

Whether you’re dining out or celebrating Christmas at the bars around town, our 24-hour private driver service can pick you up at any time that suits you. We’ll also take you and your ski equipment to the lifts.

For your safety and comfort, all our drivers have completed a winter driving course. Plus our vehicles are kitted out in snow chains and winter tyres when necessary. This service is complimentary for catered chalets. Guests staying in a self-catered chalet can book it at an extra cost. See our concierge brochure for the latest prices.

6. It feels like Christmas!

There’s nothing quite like an alpine Christmas. Morzine and Les Gets look every inch the picture-postcard traditional village with their wooden chalets and mountain vistas. The Christmas lights are twinkling and the Christmas trees light up the ice skating rinks in village centres.

The restaurants and bars become cosy and warm. Tantalising aromas of cheese fondue, mulled wine and hot chocolate waft from their open doorways. All around the villages are sounds of merriment and the jingle of bells from the horse-drawn sleigh.

7. The kids will love Morzine Enchanted Village

Every December, Morzine is transformed into an Enchanted Village which delights little ones. For two weeks, the village is alive with parades, brass bands, firework displays, face painting, light shows and fairground rides.

Kids will be endlessly entertained by the treasure hunts, puppet shows and traditional carousel. And, of course, no enchanted village is complete without the man himself, Santa Claus and his Christmas helpers.

8. Make special memories at Alta Lumina

Something magical is afoot in the woods of Les Gets. Alta Lumina is a nightwalk straight out of a child’s dream. As day turns to night, Les Gets becomes a playground for an interactive adventure.

Kids and adults are invited to follow a travelling music-maker and their hot air balloon on a journey through the mountains. It’s a show cleverly performed through video projection, sound effects, music and lights. Tickets are available throughout Christmas for a truly bewitching experience the whole family will enjoy.
